Summary
You could probably stand to say you’re sorry, Kay had told her when Ema had stopped cringing long enough to fill her in on what happened. And she was right; Ema had no problem telling her girlfriend that she was right. It was just that Ema was also a prideful person—the line between pride and self-confidence was hard to draw sometimes, and she’d rather have both than neither—and knowing that she had to swallow it didn’t make it any easier to do so. She was bound to run into Gavin—the prosecutor, that is—at some point. Their jobs made it nearly inevitable. And when that happened, she’d apologize. But until then? She wasn’t going to rush it or anything. That would just be weird for them both.
