Summary
Ichi, since that fateful day in the wilderness where his birth family abandoned him, has been a creature of habit. A creature who adhered to patterns. He woke with the sun, bathed in the closest clean body of water, and did what was needed for keeping himself alive to see his next sunrise.
Nothing he did throughout his days could be confused as “routine.” He did what was necessary. Nothing more.
Sometimes what was necessary was scouting the woods for hours trying to find the perfect places to set up traps, other times it was going into town to barter pelts and the like that he skinned off the animals he collected from the traps. He ate whenever was most convenient, and he always ate alone.
On a peculiar day, he might spend his hours foraging. Nothing he ever did could be classified as frivolous, or adhering to a schedule. Each day had its unique demands that couldn’t be predicted.
That is not the case anymore.
