    Her head spins. Every bone and muscle in her body aches. Her magic burns in her veins. Everything is slow – her limbs obeying her sluggishly as she tries to move, rolling onto her side, her thoughts coming back to her. Opening her eyes is a difficult task and for a moment she is blinded by the bright light of the Triforce. Its magic pulses and weaves, slowly dying down until the pieces fade away again – its deed and wish done.

    A figure lies on the ground before her and Zelda blinks. It is a man, face turned away from her. His long hair was a fiery orange-red, the tunic he was clad in too big now. Zelda crawls closer and grasps his chin gently, turning his face toward her.

    „G-Ganon?“ she whispers softly.

    The rules are simple: draw three cards and perform the resulting dare on your partner, which could be anything from a simple touch to something far more scandalous. The first to refuse forfeits the bet. Zelda's pride won't let her fold, and Ganondorf refuses to admit defeat, despite the fact that they're both wildly out of their element as the night heats up. What starts as a contest of stubborn wills turns into something far more dangerous as they both begin to realize just how far the other is willing to go to win.

    His brow rose higher.

    “It may take a significant amount of time,” she added quickly. “We can agree upon a rate that you deem satisfactory. There may also be some, um, disrobing, required, but I assure you I am quite a professional and will handle it with the utmost respect!”

    Ganondorf snorted. “You want to pay me to take my clothes off and let you handle me?”

    The sound that escaped her resembled a drunken keese. “That is not what I said at all!”

    “That’s exactly what you said.”

    Hyrule has fallen into memory and legend beneath the waves. Those who were warned by the prophecies of Zelda Rainbringer fled to the mountains in that age of storms, and built new lives.

    Zelda Iseult DeLeon is a direct descendant of that long-ago refugee Princess, heir to the powers in the bloodline of Hylia, for whatever that's worth to an adjunct professor at one of the better academies on Triardu. Tradition demands little enough in her era -- some pageants and parades on the old holy days, a certain responsibility to maintain the Chronicles for the next generation, a knack for predicting mundane events and a sixth sense about people.

    Then the dreams started.

    They were easy enough to explain away... at first. Loneliness, longing, the fantasy of The Perfect Lover. Idle romantic fancies. Season by season the dreams escalate in frequency and visceral intensity, until she begins to doubt they are dreams at all. But what else could they be? She confesses troubled sleep to her dearest friend, and the vaguest sketch of the red-haired shadow haunting her restless nights, but no more... until the pressure is too great to bear.

    The campaign for Eldin is going about as well as anyone could expect. Keeping the wolfboy focused on infiltrating the fallen shrines - and only the fallen shrines - without losing more of his blin warriors to Zant's control proves more challenging with every passing week.

    The whole army knows by now their King and the besieged Princess are lovers.

    Ganondorf finds it difficult to care.

    He craves her clever conversation as much as he longs for her gentle hands, and he keeps a growing pile of her precious letters by his pillow.

    Zelda waits, watching from her tower as her king and the hero both work in their own way to free her country from the Twilight. Ganondorf is so much of what she hopelessly longed for in a true consort, a match of equals. Complicated and bitter and cagey, but real.

    If they can prevail, if they can forge a true alliance, if they can bring Light and Shadow into harmony again, there is hope for tomorrow.

    The sun shines once more on Hyrule Castle.

    Victory begins to seem possible...

    “You must sincerely enjoy the taste of defeat, to return so many times.” Her reply is sharp, though not nearly as biting as she wants it to be. “How have you returned this time?”

    There is a rumble in his chest, like a thunderstorm. In anyone else, she might have called it laughter.

    “Play dumb with the rest of the world all you like.” He pauses, eyes following the red moon as it rises so very slowly. “I know you better than that.”

    One year has passed since that fateful battle, since Ganondorf was destroyed and Zelda was freed from her draconic imprisonment.

    The gazebo stands on a tiny hill, one lone birch tree next to it. It looks haunted and so empty without its usual occupant dropping sugar into her tea and circling her teaspoon, out for more gossip, eyes glinting. The clinking of porcelain is another sound to its daytime symphony. For now, only cicadas and rustling leaves make up her company.

    Zelda steps closer, circling the stone table set in the middle of it as she lets her fingers caress the carved patterns on it, registering every raised line. A nonsensical pattern to her, but according to Rauru it meant something – what, she had already forgotten again. Must have been something mundane.

    „The Lady is also unable to find respite on this beautiful night?“
