Adora and Catra have been dating for a few months now. Or at least... Adora thinks they're dating. They haven't actually had that conversation yet. But she's really enjoyed spending time with Catra. And she's pretty sure Catra has enjoyed spending time with her as well. She isn't sure what they are but whatever it is, she knows that she haven't told their friends and family about it.
Exhausted after spending the day with Catra, Adora tries to send Catra a few pictures of their hike to her before she goes to bed. Unfortunately, she didn't check to see just who she was sending those pictures to...

"Are you with your soulmate? Or are you waiting around for them like 'half the world'?" Adora uses air quotes to emphasize Catra's words. Adora can feel her palms sweat, thinking of how she'll feel if Catra says she has found her other half.
Catra shrugs, a picture of carelessness. "Nah. I haven't thought about my soul mark since it disappeared off me." The blasé way she says it makes Adora feel like that wasn't the whole truth.
Adora doesn't press. "It aches sometimes. Feels empty, without the soul mark." Adora admits in a quiet whisper staring down at the bar top. Catra absentmindedly rubs her left shoulder.
Adora looks up at Catra. Both of Catra's hands press down on the bar top. Adora takes a chance and slowly slides her hand next to Catra's, only their pinkies touching. The small touch feels like it vibrates through Adora's body.
"But I don't ache when I'm here with you." Adora shrugs apologetically like she knows she shouldn't say something so forward to a woman who is just trying to do her job.
OR
Adora doesn't find her soulmate by 30 and her soul mark disappears. The next week, she meets a bartender that turns her world on its head. Soul Mark AU.

It starts on Halloween with a lost bet and princess costume. A bright pink, full length, frilly, sparkly, completely ridiculous princess costume. It might have looked cute on a three year old but a twenty-four year old woman has no business looking this magical, especially when they have a whole night of bar hopping and dancing and drinking planned.
Adora ends up at a bar she’s never been to before with a bartender she can’t take her eyes off of.
She ends up back at that same bar on Thanksgiving, again on Christmas, and then New Years Eve, and eventually on Valentine’s Day.
