Summary
Drabble-poems that deal with an early post-canon/canon divergent situation, right after Woon's attempted suicide, before the events of the first story of this flowers series.
So, Woon survives episode 29 and begins his reintegration into society. Can you imagine the adjustment disorientation? These drabbles rely on characterizations and call-backs to other writings of mine about Woon; he’s in a love relationship with Dong-soo; he suffers from nightmares and feelings of low self-worth; he wants to be recognized and healed, and yet he doesn’t. Nothing is familiar anymore.

Summary
Hope is a fragile and persistent thing.
No matter how many times one has been hurt and betrayed, there is always a space for hope.
Woon has learned all about hope now, apparently. He and Dong-soo live in a government sanctioned arrangement where two men can share a home, a bed, and be responsible for many young boys who will later serve the country; it’s as Confucian as all get-out without being a traditional marriage, and everyone knows. And now, Woon’s hopes for his best pupil are coming true.

Summary
Two lovers take turns carrying a compass, a gift from one to the other before the separation of war. Many trials can divide people, but some pairings were meant by the heavens to be.
Woo! This got first place (drabble, poetry, flashfic category) in the Reddit 2022 Fanfic Awards! Unexpected, but thanks everyone for liking the poem—now please go read Hero of Broken Will if you haven’t started it yet! It’s so much fun, I swear. I know contests don't really mean much in the great scheme of things--Miss Argentina is really prettier than Miss Italy?--but I'm always happy when small fandoms get recognized!

Whose turn is it now? My beta insisted I continue this BDE series, so here we go. Dagger time. 13 drabble-poems with so much romance that… even in the dark, Woon is a little embarrassed.

Summary
Another drabble set inspired by the very long piece I am writing about Woon’s drinking. As I’ve said before, the long piece was inspired by my fandom wife’s Warrior Baek Dong Soo: The Episode Guide, particularly by episode 23, or as she likes to call it “Woon’s Ride of Death,” in which Woon’s motives are left deliberately unclear by the script.
These drabbles start a little earlier. I was fascinated by what happened in Woon’s mind after Chun (the Sky Lord) dropped a truth bomb on him. The Sky Lord was fishing by a stream and ever so calmly let Woon know that what Woon believed for over ten years was a total lie (told to him by Chun). Woon, who’d been suffering from trauma amnesia all that time, was shown having a flashback on screen; he immediately decided to kill the Sky Lord. What isn’t shown is the emotional processing he went through afterwards. At one point later, we were shown Woon drinking alone and wondering if he’d become a monster. He was clearly having an identity crisis; who wouldn’t be?
I may take my time on the “Woon drinking fic”; it’s a lot to process; these drabbles are little exercises that are marginal by-products.

Plum Blossoms, Lotus Secrets, and All That by shalomdebbie

Summary
In Korean culture, winter-blossoming plum trees symbolize strength and perseverance under rough conditions. The lotus, in Joseon era Buddhism, is a similar symbol; it means endurance with an emphasis on enlightenment and purity.
This fic is 15 drabbles of pillow talk; the scene occurs during my Flowers fic timeline, less than one year following our pair’s first kiss (Dong-soo’s number should tell you that). A romantic discussion of sex. But no sex. The usual Dong-soo/Woon tensions, sweetnesses, humor, and yes, that field where they fought in the drama shows up– a reminder that both Dong-soo and Woon are dangerous men, that love itself is dangerous.
In this piece, you will find that counting and other units of measurement matter to martial artists. The word “cock” is here. Nothing explicit. TW for poems disguised as drabbles.
