Summary
This is a canon-divergent alternate universe. The story follows a fairly normal NG++ playthrough until Reach the Coral Convergence, where Snail and Iguazu manage to beat 621, who's pulled out and away by ALLMIND. This leaves Arquebus with a clear shot towards victory, and so the Vascular Plant is built, the majority of Balam is driven off the planet, and the RLF remains in the shadows, waiting for a chance to strike.
A tentative peace settles on Rubicon III, but independent mercenaries begin to flood the planet. Brought by unknown parties and taking jobs from all manner of groups, these mercs prove to be anywhere from a challenge to an annoyance for the strained Vespers. The elimination of these independents before they can "find their footing" seems to be the usual, at least for one V.VI Maeterlinck.
