Summary
It’s funny what memories just a single song can trigger… for Jackson Lamb, however, it opens up a whole can of worms of regrets, denials, desires, and self-loathing… from the heights of passion filled moments to the lows of the deepest regrets. It kind of has the vibe of ‘Krapp’s Last Tape’, which genuinely was unintentional – but if the shoe fits!
I hope you enjoy it as much as I was nervous about posting it! 🥲 -

Based on the interview with Gary and Saskia where they spoke about the potential of Jackson and Standish’s smutty (knee-trembling) antics prior to Slough House… 🫣

A joke about why Jackson wears a frog patterned tie in season 5 gradually developed into the longest one shot I've ever written (which is why I divided it into chapters)... full of smut, sadness and angst from Jackson Lamb and Catherine Standish's early days, to Jackson arguing with David Cartwright, to current day...
(also pls can I just say I wrote this before watching S5 so I promise I didn't get the inspiration for the last chapter from the first episode - it's just a complete coincidence that they're similar 🤣)
Jackson and Catherine have had a question on the tip of their tongues ever since their days at The Park: Are you DTF?

I had this idea one night when I was going to sleep and rain was beating against the window: what would the mental affects be on Jackson be once Catherine finds out that it was him who shot Charles Partner? What if he lives in constant fear that, hypothetically if they were in a relationship at that point, that she's just going to leave him? What if it affects him to the point where his nights are filled with that same nightmare? Would he allow her to take care of him? To try and make him feel better? Take a trip into my brain of how I think it could possibly play out if they were sharing a bed...
