Summary
Wasurenagusa, the forget me not flower.
Nezuko Kamado takes her brother's place to go to the village to sell charcoal and in her absence her family is attacked and murdered by a demon. The only survivor is her brother, Tanjiro, and he's been made into a demon hungry for human flesh.
This simple switch creates a domino effect of differences. Nezuko notices that when put together the forms of water breathing look much like a dance and it reminds her of the hinokami kagura, which leads to them finding out that Tanjiro is a demon capable of using breaths.
Giyu gets Nezuko in touch with the Rengokus under the assumption that it is an offshot of flame breathing and she takes time to visit them and ask about it before completing her training. Shinjuro hates her on sight due to the hanafuda earrings and when Nezuko leaves she writes to Saburo, who she retains a close relationship with, to complain about him. And Saburo knows Shinjuro because Shinjuro once saved his and his daughter's life. Saburo goes to beat some sense into Shinjuro and drags him kicking and screaming into the realization of how horrible he's been.

Summary
Nezuko woke with a gasp. Her heart raced and her head pounded with each beat. She was remembering everything. It was a rush of memories jumbled together in no particular order; smells and tastes, sights and sounds, peoples and places.
She needed to find Tanjiro. They’d gotten separated and she knew he was hurt. Her memories from when she had been turned up until now were fuzzy at best and missing entirely at worst, but she knew they had been fighting someone strong.
