The voice spoke to her, and Jimin almost mistook it for the breeze that slipped through the distant front door: light, distant, calm. She swallowed, initially thinking the girl might have been talking to herself. But that wasn't the case; Jimin saw her turn, and those hazel eyes, still distant and somewhat melancholic, were now looking directly at her.
“Excuse me?” The hands that held the strap of her crossbody bag over her shoulder tightened nervously. Jimin dared to respond back. She didn't think they were directed at her, even though this was looking at her and no one else.
Jimin saw it in the painting's caption—the space where all the information about the piece was on—that had no title. It had been restored by an artist, and the original image dated back more than four centuries.
1625, the era of the Baroque, the monarchy, and the spirituality of the Church…
2025… the year of hyperspeed, mediation without looking in the eye, fleeting and fake emotions.
