You can't even form words anymore, you're so far gone. It's a pathetic picture that you paint. You're lower than low—you're a hyena, just a slab of fresh meat for the second prince of the Sunset Savannah to savour. You're not even a prime cut; you're just the scraps, only enough to tide him over. You're a guilty pleasure at best, but more than likely you're just a warm body to him.
More tears spill down your cheeks, now, as something cracks in your chest. You heave in a desperate breath, trying your hardest to stay composed for him, but the dam has burst. The pleasure, which was so overwhelming before, numbs out into an afterthought, and you sob.
Just look at you. You're pathetic. How can he even bear to face you when he does this? How can he stomach something like you? How can someone like him ever want anything to do with trash like you?
You feel his ministrations pause, and your heart freezes in your chest. His thumbs, elegant but callused—beautiful yet rugged, just like the rest of him—brush under your eyes, swiping your tears away as they fall. You look up at him, laid bare, and spy the furrow in his strong brow. Shit. Shit, you're done for.

Not to toot his own horn, but Ruggie thinks it's fair to say that he's something of a backbone to his community. He's reliable, caring, and does his best to provide for everyone. If they're stuck in the slums, they're family, regardless of how long they've been there or if they've even talked before.
Being the backbone comes with a lot of hard work, though, and making tougher decisions about scenarios handcrafted by the devil himself than any sixteen-year-old should have to. He'll do it, though, and he won't complain.
Someone has to be the backbone, after all, and if no one else wants to carry the weight, he will.

He’d never seen Ruggie have a bad day. He’s seen days where the younger mage would be a tad prickly, but that was usually dealt with by pampering him with more money and sweet kisses. He knew it was just Ruggie being worried about his grandma back home, considering she was getting up in age and still tried to provide for the little ones in the slums (it burned under Leona’s skin how Farena could look at everything going on and still somehow ignore the ones that needed the most help and yet he was the favored royal out of them).
But…today was the first time Leona has ever seen Ruggie have a real bad day and it wasn’t in the way he ever considered possible for their ages and it simply reminded him of the fact that they came from two separate worlds once more.

The streets were dark, shrouded by the unforgiving walls of the canyon that boxed each side of the slums. Suffocating desert heat radiated from the dusty concrete, flushing Ruggie’s cheeks and beading sweat along the upside of his brow.
He clutched his side, the fabric of his t-shirt warm and sticky beneath his fingers. He’d have to throw the shirt away once he got home. If he got home. His feet may as well have been made of lead, every step was a struggle.
He stopped. Sucked in a breath through his teeth. Exhaled. He needed to do a better job of hiding the pain. His grandma would sooner sell her left foot than let him refuse a trip to the hospital. She might have to. The medical bills would be enough to put both of them out onto the streets.
Ruggie gets injured after a mugging over spring break and tries to hide it from everyone. It does not go well.
