Summary
On a brick wall, there was graffiti.
Which wasn’t inherently unusual or strange to see in this area. They were lenient about graffiti so long as it wasn't too offensive. Usually they only reacted when they received complaints of related property damage.
It was what the graffiti depicted that shocked him.
A huge crack, with a gigantic, haunting skinless face peaking through. It almost looked as if it were inside the wall, rather than painted on. Its eyes looked dead and emotionless, like it had no capability to think on its own.
It was the same face of the monsters who stomped the earth.
