Summary
When the man she was set to marry ends up meeting an unfortunate end two weeks before their impending nuptials, Hermione has to grapple with her place in society while keeping her secrets close to the vest. To complicate matters, the illegitimate half-brother of her dead fiancé has arrived to claim the inheritance that would have been hers in mere weeks. Severus is surly and reclusive after the war, and the last thing he wants to deal with is a sniveling woman; only Hermione surprises him. As the two navigate running an estate all while trying to discover exactly what happened to lead to Lucius's death, they will have to work together to uncover a murderer and thwart them from striking again.
