Summary
No one knew why the sun had stopped shining, only that the planet started dying. Humanity, and Faunus were forced to dig down into the earth closer and closer to the molten core to survive.
Civilization depended on members of an elite task force going up to the surface during the scant few weeks of what passed for summer to retrieve vital technology, and supplies from the frozen surface.
