Summary
When guilt rears its ugly head, Nikolai disappears. He lies about it, he always lies, and no one can ever tell, but he works himself into a spiral so deep it can keep him hidden for hours like a terrified schoolboy. Guilt and empathy no longer make him compliant, they just make him scared, and Nikolai retreats. The only traps he cannot escape are the ones he sets for himself.
