Yaz whirled around, her hand instinctively reaching again for the stake at her hip. She froze when she saw the blonde vampire standing mere meters away, looking at Yaz like she were a meal.
“Now, now. Is that necessary?” the vampire purred, eerily still.
Yaz pounced towards her, pulling out her stake as she did and aiming for the vampire’s heart. The blonde whirled away, almost as if she was made of mist.
“Really, darling. Must we play these games?”

At the top of the hill sat an old building. She knew of it, or knew the stories she’d heard since childhood. Allegedly, the old home had sat vacant since its previous owner had passed. Plenty of ghouls and monsters were given to it by adults trying to scare the children of the town. Nobody ever actually ventured out to the house, as many thought it would be in far too much disrepair to explore.
Yasmin took a moment to consider the state she found herself in. Her hair was dripping water, and the bottom of her gown was muddied and dragging along the gravel beneath her. She could turn back and retrace her steps. Or, on the off chance someone inhabited the home, she could escape the horrid rain and find her way home tomorrow.
