“Why do you keep cutting our prior arrangements, then?”
She stopped dead in her tracks, lured into the trap all to easy. “S’ nothin’,” she said quickly. “Just a tad under the weather these days.”
Vox raised his voice, “Vel, come on, we all know that’s a load of shit. What’s been going on with you?”
“Nothin’! I just bloody told you,” she said, offended.
Vox slammed his hands against the table. “Fuck’s sake, just let us fucking help you!” Forks rattled against the plates as Valentino tried to salvage a spilling tumbler, his arms tangled up in each other.
Vox ignored him and continued, “I thought we were in this together!”
“Well then you fuckin’ thought wrong, luv.”

Summary
Snow falls as Vox considers his future. Velvette and Valentino invite him to join them in their winter whimsy.
He sighed deeply, averting his eyes from the empty sheet of paper in front of him and fixing his gaze on the snowfall outside. It’s been rare to have snow in Hell, especially this early in the year. The white fluff was sparse and underwhelming, but it roused something akin to wistfulness in Vox’s bioelectronic heart.
The sudden sound of a doorknob being wrestled with pulled him out of his deliberations, followed by impatient knocking. Vox carefully unlocked the door.
“It’s snowing!” Valentino exclaimed, all cheer, no edge of lust or cruelty to his tone. His golden claws caught Vox’s attention as they wrapped around the door pane and reflected in the cold light coming through the window.
“Yeah, I can see that,” Vox said flatly. “Any other obvious remarks you’d like to make?”
Valentino grabbed him by the shoulders with two swift hands, two others gesturing wildly. He continued, undeterred, “C’mon, we just—have—to go outside! Grab your old fucking ugly turtleneck and let’s go!”Series
