Summary
The puzzle is scattered and the Ishtars are the ones charged with gathering all of the pieces. It isn't freedom and Malik won't let anyone tell him otherwise. Freedom will only come when the pharaoh returns. 'Or perhaps it will come sooner', a thief whispers and Malik agrees. The Ishtars can be rid of this curse and Malik is the only one who can do it.
Considering Malik's plan involves fleeing with Items and puzzle pieces, cavorting with a possibly undead thief, and betraying centuries of tradition, it's not a surprise no one's accepting of his plot. Like Rishid, who does not approve but is definitely going to tag along and make sure Malik doesn't end up getting killed by his own brilliant ideas.
Bakura is highly amused by this all except for the Rishid part. Bringing your brother, no matter how huge and intimidating he may be, is not acceptable.

Bookmarker's Notes
This is without a doubt the finest thiefshipping fanfiction I have read in a long, long time. Possibly ever. It also happens to be one of the finest Ishtar fics - especially for Rishid - and absolutely indulges my sweet tooth for clan politics. Beautifully written, dialogue polished to a sheen... I love this fic.

The slow, and even development of the dynamic in this is marvellous. I like to consider this canon.

Bookmarker's Notes
One of the best daemon centered pieces, and stunning choices for everyone. I enjoyed how it felt very tied into the books, rather than simply developing a daemon au, it twined it into the story. Mary was an excellent inclusion.

Delicately put Bakura, and Ryou, with their dynamic given a precision which gave me goosebumps. A+

Bookmarker's Notes
Stunning analysis of daemons as they relate to xenobiology - combines two of my favourite subjects ever, and does so through the lens of a plotline that reminds me of The Measure of a Man. Over-all, this is beautifully crafted, and beautifully planned, and ultimately, beautiful. Well worth the read.
