Summary
Regulus has had quite a lot to drink, and James takes care of him. Very soft and sweet.

James did that sometimes. It's because he was magical. Like a unicorn.

Summary
“Nicky’s been interrogated,” Nile says slowly, “with truth serum before.” Her voice has that same mix of incredulousness and acceptance she gets every time they tell her they’ve done something she thought was impossible.
Booker grins. “And he’s good at it.”
-or-
It's Booker’s first mission with the team since London, so of course Nicky gets injected with a truth serum.

Summary
Max thought he'd never want to see the Citadel again. And yet here he is and he isn't sure why. Furiosa greets him like this was always the plan, like he is one of her scouts. She looks strong and healthy again, recovered from her wound. Perhaps that is what he came to see?
He tells himself: 'One day. Supplies and water and food'. And then 'Maybe a night rest'.
Three days later he drives away, determined not to return.
(Three months later the Citadel comes into sight again)

Summary
Too late, Booker realizes he‘s shown his hand. It’s not purposeful, he just can’t help the way his eyes go entirely too soft, watching Joe chat with the waitress who had just dropped every single one of their drinks. He’s telling her about his ill-fated job at a bar in their second year of university, making her laugh through her tears and helping her mop up the mess of spilled beer.
Booker’s just about to get up and help them, he is, but he’s taking a single moment to wallow in how kind Joe’s smile is. He also apparently remembers Joe’s time as a bartender very, very differently, than Joe. Joe is currently describing himself as a naïve, hapless twenty-year-old who could never remember drink orders and broke more than a few glasses trying to be smooth. Booker does not recall it like that at all. He forces himself up at last, grabs a stack of napkins off the empty table next to them and goes to help, but he’s a split second too late.
Nicky’s coming back from the restroom with a pile of paper towels in his hands, and he’s staring straight at Booker.
