The way he glanced at her when she was talking; fondness shining in his beautiful blue orbs with a soft smile gracing his lips, even when she was rambling about more toys she found for Kojo. His strong hands brushing against her every chance he got; even when handing her a cup of her morning coffee she craved so desperately. Almost as desperate as she was for him. The way he spoke to her, even when in uniform; the deep, rich yet soft baritone of his voice soothing her after a stressful shift.
Signs like these are never misread.

Kie doesn’t bother responding. She can tell he’s winding up for the pitch – the reason he’s come here tonight.
“Bet you thought no one knew the truth about what happened last year at her birthday party,” he says. “I mean, I know the rumor went around that you were the one who busted the party. But that was just some bullshit Sarah said because of whatever was going on with you two.”
Rafe pauses, smirking like he can see the thoughts spinning in her mind before he speaks again.
"Nobody but me knows it's actually true."

“Then, if that’s the case…” she starts, letting the words hang in the air while they look at each other intently.
She licked her lips, seeing how Tim dropped his gaze to it.
“We should practice kissing while sitting, don’t you think?” She tilted her head slightly, exposing the soft curve of her neck.
“Sitting?” Tim echoed, straightening.
Lucy chuckled, straightening herself as she spoke. “I mean, couples do it too. They kissed while sitting, Tim.” she said, the smile never leaving her lips.
Nodding once. “Hmm.”
Lucy unknowingly readied herself internally—taking a deep breath before saying, “You can kiss me now.”
