Summary
It's a little gauche, in her circles, to cite Kier so earnestly, without any wink at modernity. But the whole point of the tempers is that they can be tamed. No one is doomed by their basic nature, only by a lack of effort, or of guidance. She's done the work. She's practiced self-improvement. She's gone to therapy.
Helena Eagan is winning the war.
(Set during S1, written after S2E1, and likely to be contradicted very soon! But I had to write about my girl who has no problems ever.)

Summary
Helly glances at the clock again. It’s 9:19 now. She must have been so transfixed by the numbers that she didn’t notice the passage of time. Did she somehow miss Mark’s arrival? When she straightens and stares over the divider between their desks, she sees that his is still untouched.
Her mouth goes dry and, in that moment, she’s sure, she’s so sure that they’ve been found out and Mark is bearing the punishment for it. Lumon allows no fraternization between colleagues, and she suspects they’d jump at the opportunity to reprimand someone. And she knows that someone can’t be her, at least not her physical body.
--
Or, post-Attila, Mark doesn't return to work, and Helly spirals. Then she decides to do something about it.

Summary
“You said you’ve been what you needed to be. To have any chance of avoiding the fate you fear, you must learn to become something truly different.” Even with it quiet upon her finger, Galadriel sank into the familiar flow of calm Nenya had helped her find within herself. “I came because I did not know if that's something you are capable of. I still don’t.”
“And which outcome drove you to check?” he asked, his words tugging at the connection between them as though it were a net he could use to draw her to him. “My failure, or my success?”
She turned back to the stars overhead, blinking away both the illusion and the tears that tried to dampen her lashes, and could not allow herself to reply.
