Summary
And then she motions for them to go to the supply closet, completely unaware of what she's just done. What she's just changed. The strings she's snapped, the ones she's rearranged. Everything, this plan, placed into motion by the most influential family in this place, by the Roaring Knight and the mayor of town, has been completely flipped on its head.
All because Susie feels bad for Kris's mom.
The prophecy and all the things Kris must do to carry it out have been hammered into their head. They will bring themselves and Noelle into the School Closet's Darkworld. There, they will discover their destiny as heroes, growing stronger, saving the world, and starting a whirlwind romance with Noelle irregardless of their own feelings along the way. It is destiny. It is the Roaring Knight's orders. Like a puppet on a string, Kris has followed the instructions to carry out this fate to the very letter.
Until one purple-haired dragon girl with a penchant for eating chalk throws a wrench into their plans.

Summary
They stick their fingers between the bars of your birdcage, letting the shadow of their hand play in your glow. It casts red across the floor, as if seeking to replace a stain scrubbed away by firm hand and plenty of vinegar. Their fingers curl slowly, as if testing the control over their own joints, before fanning out one by one. Time passes in the beating of your heart and the careless fall of hair across their face.
“I wonder,” Kris finally speaks, something in their speech mumbled and raspy. Reclaiming a voice that had not been their own for days. “Am I your cage? Or are you mine?”

They have more agency than it seems.
