Luca and Alberto are rival researchers dedicated to understanding marine life. The photos they take help fund the conservation efforts of the Portorusso Marine Conservatory. Luca has no idea how Alberto gets such epic shots, but he’s determined to find out.

The last sea monster had been caught when Massimo’s grandfather was a child, and anyone who was still living to tell of it had been a child themselves. But Massimo didn’t need proof, photographic or otherwise, to know that he would hunt anything that could pose a threat to his family, to the ends of the earth if need be.
Only a few weeks ago, that might have only included Giulia. But Alberto, his infectious energy never put off by Massimo’s long silences and his bravado poorly masking his eagerness to learn, had begun to prove equally dear.Then Alberto vanished on the cusp of sunset, without warning or explanation, and Luca was gone by the time Massimo returned from his fruitless search.
