"Then, because the tears that were pooling in his eyes were making his vision blurry, when he turned into a somewhat narrow side street in an effort to find something he could climb onto so the dogs wouldn’t catch him (his legs hurt from running and he was dizzy from hunger and Ah-Ying knew he couldn’t run for much longer and he knew that if the dogs caught him they would eat him too) the boy failed to notice a pair of seemingly young men walking down that street, and rammed into the legs shorter of the two with full force (the man didn’t even flinch, like he was an immovable boulder and somebody just threw a small pebble at him). Ah-Ying thought he was done for, dogs were about to sink their jaws into him and the man he bumped into would undoubtedly kick him for getting in his way too. He braced himself for the pain-

“Really?” Spamton forced out a small laugh, trying to lighten the mood. Tenna was already clearly upset and on the verge of a breakdown, he didn’t want to go pushing the CRT too hard and make it worse. Spamton reached out to place a hand on Tenna’s shoulder, lightly jostling him. “But we have so much to talk about! I thought you wanted to make it big with me. Why not stay a little longer? We still have that contract to sign, you know.”
Tenna shifted his head ever so slightly towards Spamton. His screen was still black but Spamton could still feel his gaze match his own. “I do, love. I really do want us to become big shots together, Spammy. It’s just not that easy. We’ll get to the contract, I promise. Just not tonight. They need me.”

Summary
Tenna was on the decline.
If he wanted to keep his name in lights, he would be forced to get a little help from an up and coming big name in Cyber City. While not particularly impressed by their first meeting, Tenna knows that this “Spamton” fella was his best chance of getting with the times or risk being left behind.
All he needed was a little guidance and all of that little mailman’s secrets to success. He would bring him in, give him a little sweet talk, stroke his ego, and get the guy to sing like a canary.
He’d been in this business a long time, while Spamton was just getting started.
This would be too easy, he thought.
But soon, he would realize that Spamton was a more worthy rival than he’d first suspected, looking to take just as much from him and more. The question was: who would win?
Who could play the long game,
And make it out to the other side in one piece?

Spamton follows his gaze after Tenna as he slips himself out from behind the counter. "What's with the bar, anyway? Were you really gonna [service] me? You're the guy calling the [shots, shots] around here!"
Right as he circles the lip of the bar, Tenna pauses.
"I am. But you're…"
He shrugs, and that funny smile of his only gets funnier. "Different?"
Spamton didn't know how to respond to that.
