The gang has all been fooling around with each other for a couple of months, except it's all been more of an open secret as they go off in pairs with each other and simply do not talk about it afterward. It's getting to Hiccup's head as an intense night with Snotlout leads to the admittance of more intense feelings than he realizes.

    Astrid drops the mirror, and doesn’t even hear as it shatters on the ground at her feet.
    “A hiccup.”

    Taking in a clutch of Nadder Natchings, the Riders expected dealing with an onslaught of stray spines, fire, and squwaks that kept them up through the night.

    What they didn't expect, was for one little hatchling to remind them so strongly of their leader.

    It all unravelled from there.
