Como todo semideus, ela reconheceu a ausência de um dos seus pais logo ao nascer. Em seguida, sentiu-se uma estranha em um lugar onde costumava se sentir em casa: nos braços do seu pai. Para proteger a família recém-construída que Frederick Chase criou, Annabeth fugiu e encontrou em Luke e Thalia um suporte que pôde chamar de lar, tudo para que fosse destruído após um ciclope matar sua amiga. No Acampamento Meio-Sangue, ela finalmente sentiu que pertencia a um lugar, embora fiel ao caloroso irmão mais velho que a vida lhe deu... Tudo para que Luke também fosse embora, traindo sua confiança e a promessa de um "para sempre".
Percy Jackson não foi tão diferente. Ele foi seu rival natural, sendo filho de Poseidon, mas também se tornou seu melhor amigo, seu confidente, seu primeiro beijo, seu futuro devaneio e, então, ela o viu aceitar uma oferta irrecusável. Não o julgava, mas seu coração não deixou de sangrar.

Pelo menos era Mary e Diana agiria com a cortesia de sempre para com a colega visando sanar esse desconfortável mal-entendido sem magoar os sentimentos da garota.Mas por que Akko está agindo tão estranhamente nessa semana? Espera, Akko terá um encontro também? No mesmo dia? No mesmo café, aquele que Diana demorou séculos para escolher? Com Andrew?
