Summary
“Should we talk about what just happened?” Baird asked, voice very low.
“Talk about how an eleven-year-old child opened a doorway to divine power?” said Myles. “Or talk about how that child did so to save the prince from an unnatural disease sent to disable the line of succession? Or talk about how that child is likely now a prime target for whoever sent it?”
“We could talk about how we’re not referring to that child as a boy, right now,” offered Baird, and Myles took a sharp breath.
"For that child’s sake, we should talk about none of this.”

Summary
“Maybe they’re lovers,” suggested George casually.
Alanna narrowed her eyes at him. “Why would them being lovers make a difference?”
George shrugged. “We all know mind-reading isn’t a thing, unless you’re a cursed powerful mage with the kind of Sight I’d never want. But lovers have their own code.”
She snorted and retreated back into the library to continue her search. “Lovers have their own code,” she muttered under her breath, clambering back up the stepstool. “What horse shit is that?”

"How long have we known each other?" Her voice felt rusty.
Raoul was sprawled next to her on the bed. He blinked at the ceiling and cracked his neck. "Twenty years?"
"Twenty years," Buri sighed. She felt like steam was rising off both of them. "We could have been doing this for twenty years."

Wil noh Daiomoru of Queenscove was nine when he realized that no one knew who he was.
(“Wil doesn’t know who she is.” Da’s voice was rising in pitch. “She’s nine."
“Wil is a very mature and self-aware nine-year-old,” said Aunt Kel. There was a hard edge to her voice that Wil didn’t hear very often. “And if you’re going to be hysterical about this, we’ll talk about it in the morning.”
“I think,” said Mama, “that we thought we had two daughters, but we actually have a daughter and a son.”)
