“He doesn’t feel that way,” Cyno tells him, enunciating his words through his own slurred, wine-drunk voice. “Alhaitham and I have been working closely together for months. I would have noticed.”
“I highly, highly doubt that." Tighnari lifts up the cup of gin, shrugs, then finishes the shot. He grimaces. "You never noticed me.”

Summary
Kaveh isn't used to compliments coming so easily, especially not from Alhaitham. He may trust him enough to call him boyfriend, but he just can't bring himself to believe much more. Alhaitham's convinced to slowly persuade him otherwise.
“An Anemo Slime,” he begins, “isn’t a very dangerous foe when faced out in the wild. They’re able to be defeated by a single blow when inflated. I think they’re like you. They can be huffy and cute at times, but also sometimes so vulnerable that a single move can destroy them.”

Summary
Kaveh’s fingers are cold. That’s all he can think about, as he clasps his hands together to try and disguise the shake in them. He tries not to think about the feeling of tears streaking down his cheeks, or the pain that is becoming a solid weight in his chest.
“I’m sorry,” Kaveh whispers, hoarse, and he doesn’t look up at Alhaitham. He can’t bear to. Of all the ways that he has imagined how this would go, this wasn’t it. He always expected for it to be a big fight, hateful words screamed at each other through tears. Not this. Not Kaveh, giving in to his weaknesses and insecurities, sitting at the kitchen table as Alhaitham stands in the hallway, silently watching him. “I just don’t… I just don’t think it’s going to work out. You deserve better.”
For once, Kaveh and Alhaitham don't fight.

“Have you started getting ready?” Kaveh says, stepping into the room. Alhaitham lifts his head up from his book, blinking at his husband by the door way, who is in the process of putting in his earrings. He’s dressed in a nice button up shirt, but only wearing boxers below the waist.
“Ready?”
“For the dinner? To celebrate Collei’s acceptance into the Akademiya?” Kaveh replies, annoyance already apparent across his face. His eyebrow twitches, jaw clenching just the tiniest amount, and Alhaitham quickly places his book down on the table next to him.
