In which Peter and Morgan have been kidnapped together, and while Peter does everything he can to keep them safe and alive, Tony Pepper and May are leading the charge to find their kids.
Every whisper of the wind feels like footsteps. Every rustling leaf is a potential threat. He knows better than to trust logic—it’s failed him too many times before. Not with her. He can’t take chances. Not when Morgan’s safety hangs by a thread.
“What’s wrong, Mo?” he asks again, his tone soft but tight, fraying at the edges like the fabric of his patience. He adjusts his grip on her, his hands firm and steady, as though holding her tightly enough can somehow shield her from everything going wrong around them.
“I have to go potty,” she whispers, the words so timid and achingly innocent that Peter’s heart clenches.
