Summary
Three years after the Death Wave destroys most life on Earth, Clarke and Lexa meet a young Nightblood on one of their first long excursions on the surface. While they get to know the child, they must figure out how to integrate her into the lives of the remaining survivors of the human race, most of whom are still trapped behind closed doors. Can Clarke and Lexa finally have some well-earned peace, or are there more battles to fight? What secrets are held in the child's hometown? Can the bunker crew come to accept a lost Nightblood child?

"I am a wanderer," the woman repeats, voice smooth, "and I was wandering so no real purpose on me being here"
Lexa scowls, frustration flickering across her face. Before she can push for more, the woman’s head tilts, curiosity sparking in those too-blue eyes.
"And you?" she asks, voice light and curious. "What is your name, gorgeous?"
Lexa blinks, thrown off for just a second by the adjective. "That’s not relevant."
The woman’s smile grows slowly into a playful smirk. "It is to me."
Lexa presses the dagger firmer. "You are the one with a blade to your throat."
The stranger studies her, head tilting just slightly, eyes gleaming. "How about an offer?"Lexa doesn’t move. "This is not a negotiation."
"So the one holding the dagger gets to have their questions answered, is that it?"
Lexa lifts an eyebrow. "You could say so."

Science is a miraculous thing. It's facts and figures. It's something you can see in front of you. It's physical. It's an infinite number of atoms clashing together to create everything in existence. It's proof... Religion is a state of mind. It's people coming together. It's a set of rules for a group to follow. It's spiritual. It's a peace that there is something more out there, something that science cannot explain. It's belief.
If you were to ask Anya why the Nightbloods' are capable of transforming into their inner animal, she would tell you it is a gift from the Spirit. The selected few chosen to protect their people; whether that be with large wings scouting the sky, able to see a potential threat from miles away or soft, silent paws tracking seamlessly through the forest... If you were to ask Raven why the Nightbloods' are capable of transforming into their inner animal, she would tell you that the radiation from the nuclear war caused a genetic mutation in order to adapt and live in new surroundings. She'd tell you it was evolution.
Really, Clarke just wants to know why this random panther with bright yellow and green eyes keeps following her. And why that particular shade of green seems so familiar.
