Darius looked somewhat startled by Hunters immediate professional attitude. It must've have given him whiplash to see someone go from bleeding out, to having a vivid night terror, to being so efficient. Hunter felt a tug of pride at how quickly he composed himself.
He was rather good at that.
"I...see. And what is the nature of this spell?"
Ah. This was the part Hunter was dreading.
He grimaced. "Darius," he said, steadying himself, "I can't lie."
Desperation had crept into his voice without his permission.

Something Macaque hadn’t felt in a long time bounced around in his chest and throat as he absorbed MKs words. Gods, a family. He hadn’t been in a family in such a long time. A family that cares. The idea of it ran circles around his head.
