So, this is the god of war I’ve been hearing so much about. He's what I was expecting if I’m honest; about the only thing in this place that has been so. Dark-skinned and tall, very tall, he likely stands several heads above me. Most of him is covered in shining armour and tough leather, his features hidden by a magnificent, plumed helmet. When he yanks the helmet off, grunting as he does so, he reveals his eyes which are crimson like deep pools of blood. To another person he might be intimidating but I am not any person, nor any god.
His face is hard like stone when he turns to me. I match the glare with one of my own. My height and stature should make me less scary but I have been told there is a glint in my eyes, a hint of cruelty or sadism. His shoulders tense and his eyes leave mine. I smirk.
I win this round.
I offer my hand.
“Aphrodite, I’m the new Olympian.”

It was late, Shinobu decided. She turned away from Kanao, waved, and headed back to her own room.
Once there, Shinobu found that she couldn't sleep. The dark wasn't comforting but suffocating, and her pillow was uncomfortable. Silence was too loud. Her shelves of books about medicinal herbs looked odd, her feet were cold. Her hairpin dug into the back of her head. The one thing that kept Kanae close now was trying to bite back at her. Absolutely none of this was fair.A take on some of the things that could have happened after Kanae died.
