Chapter 23 is the day before Christmas.
So, Charlie is not all there, he seems a bit abusive, perhaps? He seems to be more obsessed with Harry than in love with him. He scares Harry. Ron sort of scares Harry too suddenly, when he sees that look in his eye that remind him of Charlie.
Snape is very possessive, and while he doesn’t want to hurt Harry they are both into some kinky rough sex, and Snape tend to feel a lot of self-disgust by his own behaviour. He is also damaged by Azkaban, even if only the first year was with dementors they have given him some real trauma. At one point he completely blacks out, panics and doesn’t recognise Harry, and when he lashes out he ends up smacking Harry’s face. It was an accident, though I still don’t think their relationship is very healthy. I hope they manage to work through everything together though.
