“I have some notes on the case in my journal,” Phoenix called out. “I think I left it over on the table.”
“The red one?” Edgeworth meant to confirm as he grabbed the notebook closest to him.
“No, that’s my-” Phoenix froze, eyes widening in realization. “Wait, shit, don’t-” He turned around, but it was too late. Miles had opened the notebook, cocking an eyebrow as he stared down at the pages. “My sketchbook.” Phoenix muttered with a wince.

Summary
Miles Edgeworth's journey was not an escape, but a confrontation. He sought answers through distance and reflection, forcing him to face his past, his uncertain future, and his identity as a prosecutor—all while struggling with unexpected feelings for Phoenix Wright. This internal crucible culminated in a profound ego death.
A narration framing the infamous choice—“Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth chooses death”—not as a literal suicide, but as the metaphorical death that marks the beginning of his transformation.

Summary
Edgeworth's expression twisted—something between anguish and anger. “If I wanted to... if I let myself—”
He didn't finish the thought. He didn't have to. Because in the next instant, he was there—faster than Phoenix could register, faster than thought. The vampire's body slammed him back against the bookshelf with startling force. Cold hands gripped his shoulders, fingers like iron, holding him still. Phoenix gasped, the sudden contact knocking the air from his lungs. Books tumbled from the shelf behind him, hitting the floor with dull thuds.
Edgeworth loomed over him, so close Phoenix could see the flicker of firelight reflected in his eyes, could see the fine lines at the corners—remnants of the human he'd been, frozen in time. His breath came shallow, uneven, though he didn't need to breathe at all. His fangs had descended—slender and gleaming like polished ivory.
