There was no moment of hesitation. Her finger pressed on the contact name and she waited, she hoped as she pressed the phone against her ear. The background noise was enough to fill her ear with its familiar hum and she knew that this was where it would all begin.
"Hello," she said cheerfully into the phone, even though she knew the response was short. And yet, she had to say something. Anything to get the information that she needed. To get some answers to her many questions.
“I’m Namjoon’s mother. I know this may seem out of the blue but I just wanted to know who you are. I couldn’t recognize the contact name, that is all.” She heard rustling and then some muffled words. She furrowed her eyebrows, “Are you a friend? I cannot say you are because I know all of them. So, what are you to my son?”

That’s the contact name Kim Namjoon, your average run-of-the-mill businessman, saved for his very first drug dealer. And that’s the contact name who broke the news to his mother that they were dating. Only they were not. But Jeon Jeongguk really did not have an aptitude for lying.
