Summary
Cal could not lose another. Even if by his own hand, he could not in good conscience send Kai away. He won't be like him. But he has to protect his siblings.
Instead of Caladruis sending Kai to the eleventh realm, he instead seeks guidance from Ulric, who having his own monster should know what to do. Seeking redemption for Kai, Cal left him in the scientist's care.
When they reach insanity, when they lose everything they love and try to get it back, at least Kai and Arlow would have each other. Through their escape, the rupture, the sectors, through the terrifying new worlds before them, at least they're together.
