    Summary

In 33,550,337 cycles, Mydeimos the Undying can count the number of peaceful lifetimes he’s had on his fingers. It does not come as a surprise to him that nightmares continue to frequent his slumber, even within this tranquil Eternal Page. But the ones that have been tormenting Mydei recently are particularly vivid. Because he had seen the scene playing out before him in reality—

—of Phainon’s body shattering into millions of pieces, an image accompanied by the notion that they, the heroes, could only answer his suffering with more pain, that death was his only possible escape, that none of them could not even hold him and bring him solace in his final moments.

    --

Dreams of Phainon's death still haunt Mydei on many nights.

    Summary

By the third period, the class had succumbed to the slow, syrupy pull of post-lunch drowsiness.

Saparata sat with one cheek in his hand, a pen dangling in the other.

Technically, he was trying to take notes.

Instead, his concentration kept slipping over the words, over their teacher’s monotone voice, and of course, over to one side.

To Fluixon, who had fallen asleep exactly ten minutes into the lecture.

or, Fluixon fell asleep in class. Saparata, instead of waking him up or ignoring him, decided to observe.

    Summary

    A night like many others.

    "... Hey Saps."

    "What?"

"I was just curious… Do you know how to dance?"

Before Saparata could even respond, Fluixon extended a hand, not with his usual arrogant flourish, but with quiet grace.

    “... Want to try dancing?”

or, Saparata and Fluixon watch the starry night together, then they dance. As simple as that.

“You can run,” he said softly. “If that’s what you want.”

    Saparata turned, surprised.

“But,” Fluixon continued, his voice dropping lower, “you’ll still come back.”

    “That’s not fair.”

“Neither is fate.” He smiled faintly. “You’re already tied to me, Saps. Even if you cut the string, it’ll just find another way to wrap around you.”

Saparata stared at him, not frightened, not angry, just quietly overwhelmed. Because for all of Fluixon’s youth, there was something ancient in his words. Something that burned too bright to be childish.

“…You sound like you’re cursing me,” Saparata said at last, trying to laugh it off.

“Maybe I am,” Fluixon murmured, almost to himself. Then, after a pause, “Maybe it’s the only kind of magic I can control.”
