Summary
Modern AU Cheng Shaoshang works in a coffee shop that's frequented by many of the university students around. She and Lou Yao have just broken up and are the talk among everyone their age. She's working to try and earn enough to get herself a degree.
Hou/Ling Buyi is a Law student, wanting to join his godfather's law firm one day and pay back for all his family did for Hou/Ling Buyi growing up. He's never had a serious girlfriend, finding most young woman in his family's social circle to be frivolous and shallow. But he's seen Cheng Shaoshang around before and his breath is always taken away by her actions. She stands out from the other young woman her age and can't help but take the chance to ask her out when it's finally presented.
