Zenitsu is afraid. Kaigaku and Gramps are inside, where it is safe, thinking Zenitsu has long gone to sleep. But Zenitsu isn’t asleep—he’d snuck out to meet a girl in the village a mile away, and is now faced with a demon instead.
‘’Eat,’’ Kokushibo hisses as he throws the corpse down on the ground. It’s Mari—the girl Zenitsu was supposed to meet tonight. Her pretty red hair is not nearly as crimson as the blood soaking her yukata, and Zenitsu feels like throwing up. He’s also hungry. He knows her. Knows she has a name, but he is hungry and afraid—oh so afraid.
