Summary
Venlithea, or Ven as she likes to be called, is a girl from a rural village who wishes to have a fresh start in life, along with her mother Nithenoel. When her mother's horse arrives at their house without her, Ven sets off to find her and her search ends at a seemingly abandoned castle in the middle of a mysterious forest. There, she discovers Nithenoel and learns that the castle is inhabited by talking furniture and a beast who claims to be a prince.
She is then taken prisoner in exchange for her mother's freedom. What discoveries will she uncover as she walks through the castle's halls? What is the curse she keeps hearing whispers about? And why is she drawn to the princely beast, lord of the castle?
