Summary
Nikola has always wanted to visit one of the flying cities and experience the magic that permeates them. But when he makes the impulsive decision to sneak into Mistelfelden, the City of Dancing Lights, he couldn't have chosen a worse time to do it. After a cataclysm has hit the city, Nikola gets stuck there, at the mercy of both the city's authorities and a mysterious entity.
Eymeric has been raised for one purpose only and his fate is either to die or become the most powerful being in Mistelfelden. That fate comes to pass in the most unexpected, most brutal possible way and Eymeric is left floundering, trying to save his city while protecting his own heavy secret.
For Nikola and Eymeric, thrown in each other's paths, working together is a desperate bet that could very well turn into a disaster.

A wonderful story, alternating between the point of view of the two main characters. It is set in a fantastic world with magic (aether) and a detailed political system. I feel the plot relies mainly on political struggle, fighting, romance and friendship.
