With resources stretched thin and the increasing number of kaiju attacks, Hoshina Soshiro has been tasked with finding and bringing back one Narumi Gen—the delinquent kicked out of the Defense Force years ago. Hoshina quickly finds himself dealing with more than one kind of trouble.

”The surgery went wrong.” Narumi doesn’t look Hoshina in the eyes. He’s busy watching his soldiers. Especially Kikoru. “The initial one to replace my retinas—I was sedated for it. But…” he bends over and rests his arms on the railing, picking at the skin around his fingernails. His hands are dry. “Midway through—it went wrong.”
Or, Hoshina has an idea on how to soothe the constant ache in Narumi’s eyes as the result of Numbers Weapons One. Narumi isn’t too sure about it.
