    “I want you to teach me how to read.” Nell said. She was leaning on the door frame, a bottle with the final dregs of brandy in one hand. The room was dark and cramped, and bare except for the bed, a small table, and the rather large ornate wardrobe Charles had insisted on taking. He looked up at her for a moment, before meticulously placing a bookmark, shutting his book, and placing it on his bedside table. He sat up straight and drew his legs in so he was sitting cross-legged on his bed.
