Tim is so tired.
Beyond tired, really. Exhausted feels like a more accurate word to encompass everything he is feeling.
Exhausted from hauling himself through life; taking a single step feels like having to climb over a mountain, more often than not. Tim is exhausted from having the same conversations over and over again, conversations that he knows have meaning. ‘It gets better,’ he hears. ‘It gets easier with time. Keep your chin up, keep smiling, keep laughing.’ With every phrase they say that sounds like something out of a motivational poster in a high school’s counseling office, Tim's brain can only respond with shut up. Shut. up. SHUT. UP. SHUT UP.
And yet, the quiet scares Tim too. When it’s quiet, his thoughts can be heard with an alarming clarity. Thoughts that are from the darkest recesses of his ever-moving mind, the deepest wrinkles in the muscle that is his brain.
Oh yeah, the functioning suicidal/depressed repressed pile emotions of a father/mentor figure really didn’t help.

He watched idly as Kirishima glanced around the large display table, unable to enjoy the sight as much as he usually would allow himself to due to the annoying-as-all-fuck thoughts invading his mind.
Reminders of how his mother "will always love her daughter no matter what", how his closet at home isn't truly his anymore, filled with clothing for the fierce little girl his mother wanted him to be. How what used to be his unconditional home feels more like a house that he's seen before on television, in one of those shitty sitcoms that they always show towards the late afternoon on his dad's favorite channel. How a home that he had been ostracized from for years (not uncalled for, he completely understood; his childhood actions were beyond shitty) has now become one of the closest things he had to the feeling of Home, how his idiots that he calls friends are some of the only semblance of family he has.
All because he wasn't Her.
All because he was a son, not a daughter.

The problem is, they're trying to find sneaky little ways to get the other to admit they're not doing all they good to allow for said bonding, often in the form of getting them to admit they're doing something wrong or they've done something wrong. And hey, would've you know it, the best way to do that is to find something that they've both screwed up and passive-aggressively throw it in each other's faces until the sun explodes.
Well, actually, it's until one of them leaves in a huff, but it might as well be until the sun explodes.
The real problem is that the thing both of them have consistently fucked up the most is how they treat his brother.
