“Hmm?” Pepper hummed distractingly as she spooned potatoes onto Peters plate.
“Why don’t you call mom, Mom?” This time Morgan directed her question at the boy in question, spooning a huge pile of potatoes into her mouth as she did, so the last “mom” sounded more like a “moum” with mashed potatoes accents. “You call dad, dad!”

Pepper had switched the business suit for jeans and a crisp white button-down, tucked in in that way where it looked casual but you knew the whole thing cost more than your aunt made in a month. Her hair was in a loose ponytail; the manicure on her outstretched hand was impeccable. Her smile was easy and open, like it hadn't even occurred to her to bring expectations to the table.
Peter knew immediately that he wanted nothing more in this world than for Pepper Potts to like him.

“What’ll happen to me now?” Peter somehow manages to not shout this question at an uncaring universe. He sobs it into Pepper’s chest as she runs a hand through his hair, a gesture as familiar to her as breathing. “What am I gonna do now?”
Pepper squeezes him tight. If he thinks she’s letting go of him now he has another thing coming.
“You’re coming home with me."
