Belly blinked away her sleepiness slowly going down the steps one at a time. Standing at the bottom step of the staircase had brought her a flash memory of the exact moment from years ago that’s so similar to this one. Rubbing her eyes, she smiled wide as the bright sun from the open kitchen window reflected off the gold on her husband’s finger as he adjusted the pan on the stove.
She couldn’t kiss him back then in the memory from years ago. Or tell him how much she’s always loved him even though deep down, she knew and fought it then. But she can now.

She was referred to as subject 9999 she was reduced to just a number, and living in a cell since she was taken from her home when she was thirteen. It was for the greater good she had been told she was in what she called a prison with many other girls. The only noise she knew coming from outside her cell and hearing girl's helpless screams as they're dragged away. She'd hear guards whisper she and everyone else in the cells were taken from their cells and sold to influential rich families to bare their children if their wives couldn't produce a male heir. They would stay for a whole year if they only produced females they'd be killed and their children along with them same went if none produced an heir at all. She was taken from her cell to do her duty and produce a male heir for Jeremiah Fisher if she didn't she'd be tossed aside and be presented to his older brother she was expected to call them Lord or Master never by their first name. But what if she met the older Fisher brother first?
