Summary
110 years in the past, Shinji Hirako is Captain of the 5th Division. He and his Lieutenant, Sosuke Aizen, are asked to attend an initiation ceremony for a new captain. Shinji suspects Aizen is up to something, but he's not sure what. Aizen is most definitely up to several things, Shinji being one of them.
This is a (generally) canon compliant exploration of the palpable tension between Shinji Hirako and Sosuke Aizen starting from the beginning of the TBTP arc. The story is told alternately from Shinji's and Sosuke's POVs. Every time I see these two on screen together I feel like I'm interrupting something so here we are.
