    Summary

January seventh. Seven days since the start of 2015, and seven days since his father’s death.

The bastard, he thinks bitterly. The past year Derek Hale had made it blatantly obvious that he hated his scrawny guts, taking every given opportunity to shove him up against a wall, growl threats in his ears and roll his eyes whenever he stepped into the room, muttering some snide comment about how spastic or idiotic he was.

So why did he fucking volunteer to take him in?

    Summary

“I’ve gone crazy,” he concludes aloud.

This must be the answer, because his dreams are never this stable, and he doesn’t believe in ghosts. He’s finally lost his ever-loving mind. The grief must have been too much. He’s become one of those men driven insane by tragedy.

“It’s me,” Arthur says, voice raspy around the edges. “You’re not crazy, John.”

John spends two years trying and failing to move on. Returning to the States, he makes the most unlikely and infuriating discovery of the new century. Life has provided a second chance, and John refuses to let it go to waste.

    Summary

Women. Wives. Hostages. A funny little ecosystem Anthony’s established, kept in line of course by the ruling class of brutes he’s recruited, the ones that smoke and spit and swear and shoot whoever the fuck a Foreman tells them to. A band of brothers, Anthony calls them. Tilly just thinks they’re fools, but of course no one’s ever asking her anyway.

“You’re so young.” He says. He sounds so forlorn. Sounds like he’s in mourning. “Oh, I didn’t know they captured girls so young.”
“I was younger when they got me.” She answers absently. She doesn’t think too hard about the use of the word captured, because it makes it seem like maybe tonight was inevitable. Maybe it didn’t matter that she’s fifteen and not close to sixteen neither, or that she’s still skinny like a little boy and no man in their right minds would want her. Because maybe it’s not about want to these fellers. Maybe it’s just sort of about power.
She doesn’t say any of that to the hostage. She doesn’t have the time.

    Summary

Jack Marston begins following a fabled gunslinger's exploits through dime store novels, worshipping a man who sounds a whole lot like someone John had learned to hate up until the end, when he decided to love him, and then tried his damnedest to forget. Meanwhile, John and Sadie struggle along with Abigail and Charles to make things work at Beecher's Hope, chasing ghosts from their past. But what happens when ghosts and legends meet, and whether they are physical or metaphysical, can they stop John's present from crashing into his future?

    Summary

“Hello there! Ah, I see you’re new around these parts. I’m old around these parts. Blind Man Cassidy is my name. If you’d like your fortune told, I just ask for a bit of gold.” He holds out a tin coffee can smothered in rust, full of empty, whistling desert air. Heat broils up around them and makes the horizon waver.

Arthur knows now, so many miles later, he never should have stopped. He never should have stopped along the trail, and he certainly never should have given that man any money. Damn this moment of charity, of weakness, and all the change it brought about.
