“I think I- like Emu.’ Tsukasa stammered, subconsciously biting his lip.
Rui didn’t answer, not immediately, he blinked slowly and set down his tray on the table, making barely a sound. He tried his best to smile, but it felt stiff, as if his eyes weren't a part of it. Looking up, he tried to force a reaction. He really didn’t wanna be a part of this.
Tsukasa raised an eyebrow, Rui’s silence felt a little too…weird, it wasn’t anything like him…at all.
“Ah,” He finally said something, “Is that so?..” his voice, quiet and careful, as if something was swallowing him whole, he couldn’t say why, but it's a little too soft.
He didn’t know why he was upset upon hearing that sentence. He didn’t even like Tsukasa, he never did like Tsukasa. so.. why is he so disappointed? Why does his chest feel so tight..?

Yet when the time came, Tsukasa made the choice — for both their sakes. Their final conversation had been agonizing. They parted — one rising towards stardom, the other left beneath the stage lights that now felt too dim.
Now, after a year of absence and longing, Rui had bought a ticket to Tsukasa’s live show. Though, he wouldn't be special. He was no longer the one behind the camera. He was no longer the one Tsukasa would look for backstage. Yet part of him still clung onto hope — that somewhere beneath the professional image of the idol, the boy who once loved him longed for him too.
