“What?” Astarion seems nearly speechless, his silver tongue gone heavy in his mouth as he blinks, coming damn close to outright stuttering, “I—I mean, surely you—I’ve seen how you look at me!” He huffs, looking frustrated and confused and completely thrown off.
It’s almost endearing, to see him grow so flustered, his suave persona melting through his shock. You can’t help but smile, “I’m just not really interested in sex. That’s all.” You shrug, and Astarion looks at you as if that tadpole in your head has finally started to transform you.
(Or, you don’t want sex. Astarion doesn’t know what to make of that.)

The sudden matter-of-fact–ness takes Caleb off guard. Could this be going where he thinks it might be going? “Not very much.” Not nearly as much as he would like.
“Right.” Essek inhales, worrying a fang at his bottom lip. “Well, it is not dissimilar to human physiology — but there are differences.”
“Of course.” Caleb nods, ever the eager student. “Longevity being a key one.”
“Well, yes, there is that, but—”
“And pointy ears,” Caleb blurts out.
Essek gives him a long, hard look, part reproach, part… something else. “Not just pointy,” he finally says. “They are… rather sensitive, as well.”

The room is silent. Neither wizard moves. A seagull calls in the Quay outside the tower.
Yussa takes a step forward and Caleb drops the spell, lurching forward to catch the glass figurine in its freefall.
The older wizard approaches the chalkboard and slows its spin, picking up a piece of chalk from where it had clattered to the floor. Carefully, he draws bold boxes around the parts of Caleb’s theorem where gravitational magic had played a key role.
When Yussa turns to face the other wizard, Caleb looks younger than ever, standing awkwardly, clutching the figurine to his chest.
“Who has been teaching you dunamancy, Master Widogast?”
Yussa catches Caleb using dunamancy and wants to meet Essek. But after being introduced, Yussa has some concerns about Caleb and Essek's relationship. Misunderstandings abound.

Summary
Caleb knew that some humans were able to intentionally wiggle their ears. Apparently it was an old, vestigial muscle that only some humans could purposefully flex, which would rotate their ear in a kind of silly-looking wiggle, usually done for joke effects. But elves? Though Essek would be loathe to admit it, they seemed to have an instinctual sort of twitch to them, the muscle not only active and connected, but sensitive. Emotionally activated, Essek’s ears would sometimes pin closer to his head, or wiggle with the slightest tension when he was excited.
Or shake with the slightest sort of quiver when aroused.

Summary
Essek was haunted by Caleb’s hands. The man was… very explicit with the use of his bare hands in everyday life, and it never failed to rile Essek into something of a frenzy, hiding behind a book or busying himself with other work just so he didn’t have to stare directly at the wanton displays. Kryn culture dictated that hands were an extension of not just the physical self, but the spiritual self. A drow could reach back through ages and lifetimes with a touch to a Beacon, and similarly a single touch of skin to skin could transform and reach across lifetimes to connect two people in ways more than simply physical.
Caleb, by Kryn standards, was a bit of a slut.
