It’s not the fact that John does things without his knowledge. No, he doesn’t care about that; John’s his own man, he can do what he wants. It’s that Sherlock can’t see what John’s doing. For some reason, he can’t deduce it. And it makes Sherlock feel like he’s off his game. Which just doesn't happen, not to Sherlock Holmes.
